2012-13 Graduate School Public Lectures: James Duderstadt
Kane Hall 130, UW Seattle

America's college graduates are facing unprecedented challenges as they prepare to launch their careers. The workforce is competing with emerging markets in China and India, job creation is at the forefront of the national discourse, and leaders are looking for ways to maintain our edges in technology and innovation.

James Duderstadt, director of the Millennium Project and President Emeritus at the University of Michigan, will discuss these issues and more in his lecture, "Higher Education in the 21st Century: Global Imperatives, Regional Challenges, National Responsibilities, and Emerging Opportunities."

Duderstadt will look at these difficulties through the prism of higher education and research universities while discussing what it takes for American colleges to help graduates compete and prosper in the changing labor market.
