Professional Mediation Skills Training Program

September 28, 29 & 30, 2012 AND October 13 & 14, 2012

This basic skills training course will locate mediation among the array of dispute resolution processes, and examine the differences between facilitative and evaluative mediation. Participants will learn a step-by-step process to assist parties in conflict to find mutually agreeable solutions.


Day 1 September 28, 2012

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. Program begins at 1 p.m. and adjourns at 5 p.m. There will be a 15-minute break.

  • Negotiating - Generating & Evaluating Options
  • Mediation Role plays

Day 4 October 13, 2012

Program begins at 8:30 a.m. and adjourns at 5:30 p.m. There will be two 15-minute breaks and a one-hour lunch break.*

  • Writing Agreements and Closure
  • Ethics in Mediation (9:15-11:15 a.m.)

Day 5 October 14, 2012

All registrants will mediate and participate in all class exercises. Participants are encouraged to attend with a willingness to work collaboratively and with a mind open to exploring new and alternative processes. This course is not a marketing, public relations or placement workshop. It is designed to equip you to mediate.
