2014 de Tornyay Center Healthy Aging Spring Lecture

While a person faces many challenges as they grow older, seniors are living longer and healthier lives thanks to advances in healthcare and technology. Preventing falls is critical to ensuring a better quality of life for people as they age. Join us from 2-4 p.m. on May 14th for the 2014 de Tornyay Center for Healthy Aging Spring Lecture, Focus on Falls: Preventing Falls in Community Dwelling Older Adults.

Elizabeth Phelan, MD, MS, associate professor in the Division of Gerontology an Geriatric medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, will lead this illuminating lecture, offering the opportunity to learn how the field of gerontology is making strides in improving the quality of care for seniors. This presentation will cover the causes of falls, fall injuries and best practices for fall prevention in the outpatient setting. A student poster session and reception will follow the lecture.
