Happy New Year from the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis (SBCA)! We have several exciting activities planned during the next few months and hope you will join us as you are able.

Registration Now Open for SBCA Annual Conference

Registration is now open for our 2014 Annual Conference and Meeting on March 13 and 14 at the George Washington University Marvin Center in Washington, D.C. Early registration discounts are available through January 31; hotel reservations must be made before February 11 to guarantee rate availability. We are grateful for the generous conference support from the MacArthur Foundation and the George Washington University Regulatory Studies Center.

Richard Zeckhauser to Deliver Conference Keynote Speech

We are pleased to announce Richard Zeckhauser (Harvard Kennedy School) as the keynote speaker for the 2014 SBCA Annual Conference and Meeting. Zeckhauser pioneered the field of policy analysis and developed many concepts that are integral to the conduct of benefit-cost analysis today.

Announcing New SBCA Vice President and Board Members

The SBCA membership has elected W. Kip Viscusi (Vanderbilt University) as Vice President of the SBCA, and James K. Hammitt (Harvard University) and Jack Wells (U.S. Department of Transportation) as members of the SBCA’s Board of Directors. Continuing members of the Board are Lisa Robinson (President), David Weimer (Immediate Past President), Richard B. Belzer (Secretary/Treasurer), Sandra O. Archibald, Jennifer Baxter, Susan Dudley, Donald Kenkel, and Anne Smith.

We thank retiring Board Members Anthony Homan and Clark Nardinelli, and retiring Immediate Past President Joseph Cordes, for their hard work and contributions to the health and growth of the Society.

SBCA Sessions at the WEAI Conference: Abstracts Due January 24

SBCA is participating as an allied society in the Western Economic Association International Annual Conference in Denver, Colo., from June 27 to July 1. If you are interested in presenting, send an abstract to the SBCA administrator by January 24. Submissions must include contact information for the presenter and any co-authors, a title of 60 characters or fewer, a brief abstract of 350 words or fewer, and three related JEL codes. Society members interested in attending the conference may register at the WEAI member rate.
