ON OUR MIND:INTERVIEWING LIKE A PRO .

WHY STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD IS A GOOD THING.

You landed an interview -- congratulations! Landing the interview is hard, but it is just the first step in the process to land you the gig. Here are some quick, yet effective tips to ensure you put your best foot forward during the face-to-face.

- Strike a balance. Make sure your interview answers aren't too long or too short. When practicing, shoot for a good 60-90 seconds per answer.
- Prepare your questions. Interviewers typically ask if you have any questions for them as a part of the interview. Make sure you do by asking thoughtful, interesting and knowledgeable questions.
- Tackle behavioral-based questions. "Tell me about a time when..." is your cue to use the STAR method to answer. S=situation, T=task, A=action, R=result.
- Know your rights. Some questions are illegal. Make sure you know how to tactfully address those questions without losing your shot.
- Practice, practice, practice. Practicing (out loud) will help you relax and excel in your interview. A good way to practice is with a mirror or a roommate or, book a Mock Interview in our office for some expert feedback.
QUICK TIP: INTERNSHIPS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Nothing looks better on a resume than "been there, done that." Companies look for initiative and drive in a new employee and often find their employees from their pool of summer interns. Freshman and Sophomores should pursue internships with the same aggressiveness that Seniors pursue employment after graduation. And, importantly, apply just as you would for a full-time job: with a polished resume and cover letter specifically tailored to the organization's needs.
